At 8 am on September 21, 2019, the 4th Korean Speech Contest for College Students from Northeast China was held in the multifunctional hall of Harbin University of Science and Technology. Twenty six contestants from twenty five universities in the three Northeast provinces participated in the competition. After nearly 4 hours of fierce competition, Tang Xiangyue, a senior student from Korean major in our school, won the first prize with 88.5 points.
This competition is the same as those in previous years, consisting of two parts: keynote speech and picture talking. It not only tests the professional level of Korean language of the contestants, but also comprehensively examines their practical ability and response ability. In the first part of the keynote speech, the contestants displayed their abilities and their respective styles, which reflected their serious learning attitude and solid professional skills. In the second part of the picture talking, the organizer carefully prepared twenty-six pictures, covering Korean traditional cultural knowledge, modern social life, folk customs and many other aspects, which fully inspected their insights and comprehensive critical thinking on Korean society and culture.
Ms. Jin Zhenai, consul of the South Korean Consulate in Shenyang, as the judges of this contest encouraged the contestants, hoping that more young Chinese can learn Korean, understand and love Korean culture, and become the cornerstone of friendly exchanges between China and South Korea.
